No.2890 Hunslet ‘Douglas’ and Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Loco 752 No.51456

An afternoon at East Lancs Railway after a morning of overtime at work, I’d planned just to catch No.2890 running. The East Lancashire Railway is a 12 ¹⁄₂-mile heritage railway line in north-west England which runs between Heywood in Greater Manchester and Rawtenstall in Lancashire.

While at Irwell Vale waiting for the next steam train to come through, there was a nice surprise instore for me and the other hardy soul in the cold. In the distance you could make out to engines working up the line, so an unexpected double-header was coming up the valley.

The recently restored Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Loco No.752 was leading the train into the station.
