Visit Bradford’s First InstaMeet

Visit Bradford who are constantly working to promote all the great things in Bradford District, organised there first InstaMeet. A part guided tour around the city with the Director at City Of Film, David Wilson. Along with an all access visit to the newly renovated St Georges Hall. Finished off with food at The Bear Den & beers at the Rose & Crown, with some little bits along the way…..

St George’s Hall

The newly renovated St Georges Hall, to the tune of £16 million donated by Bradford Council and the Heritage Lottery Fund. I have been after access to take some snaps since the renovation finished, but Bradford Theatres weren’t interested. So I jumped at the opportunity with Visit Bradford, and mainly focused on the auditorium.

The wide angle Samyang 14mm proving most useful at capturing the vast room.

City Park and The Wool Exchange

A visit into the City Centre isn’t complete without visiting City Park or The Wool Exchange. City Park has gone under a vast transformation into its current guise. There use to be a road and various bus tops, through what is the fountain now. The water fountain is very popular all year round, and the council hosts a lot of different events and actives in the open area.

On the other side, The Wool Exchange opened in 1867, and was as named for over 100 years. Recently it has housed Waterstones book, this is the best place to get a feel of how grand the building is from the inside.

Little Germany

A large conservation area within the city centre, buildings with the area date back to the early 19th Century. The architecture is predominantly neoclassical in style with an Italian influence. The area was constructed by wealthy European merchants, building Offices, Warehouse and Storage. The bulk of the merchants came from Germany, hence the name “Little Germany”.

A popular and sought after area by the TV & Film productions. While being toured, our guide would often just stop and point upwards, the area of the city you don’t often look.

The Bradford Club and The Midland Hotel

The Bradford Club is a gem tucked away in the town centre. Origins dating back to 1761, and past members include Sir Titus Salt. A membership only club, that use to have a large percentage of Wool Mill owners as members. This has also become a popular location with TV & Film productions, along with The Midland Hotel.

The Midland Hotel, use to sit at the end of the railway and was built by The Midland Railway company. Built in 1855, and a show piece of the northern operations by the railway. Used by many famous actors over the years, and used in productions still.
