The Bolton Abbey estate is in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, near Skipton. Located on the banks of the River Wharf, and is the estate of the Duke of Devonshire. At the heart of Bolton Abbey Estate lies the Priory Church and Ruins of an Augustinian Priory in its beautiful riverside setting.

I always enjoying to capture the sunset at Bolton Abbey, and overtime have learnt to plan my visit. Turning up well before the sun drops in the area, with the estate sitting in the bottom of the valley. Give the pre-sunset shots, and the long shadows cast with that.

The final shot at Bolton Abbey, was of the Priory ruins lit up. This is something I have wanted to try for a while, and will certainly be fine turning. Lit with a single speed light, with a coloured gel over it. The Miops Trigger was used, so that I could fire the camera, while setting off the flash. My flash triggers wouldn’t work as they are line of sight triggers.

Keighley and Worth Valley Railway

Diving into Oxenhope on my way to Bolton Abbey, was well timed. The last service was the day was due to terminate at Oxenhope Railway Station. The wonderful golden sun was starting to drop, so I headed down the line and to the top of an embankment. Knowing the engine would be working up the gradient, I’d expect the engine to be steaming.
